Story Mission

Los Santos

Lamar wants to grab a Ballas member named D, and what starts as a quick shakedown turns into a van chase across the city and a foot pursuit that ends with Chop sniffing him out of a rail yard boxcar.

Walkthrough

  1. Meet up with Lamar

    Lamar and Chop are waiting outside Franklin's place. Walk over and get in the van with them.

  2. Head to Vinewood

    Follow the waypoint to Vinewood Boulevard. Lamar's got a Ballas member named D lined up, and he wants him grabbed, not shot.

  3. Chase D through the streets

    D bolts on his bike the second things go sideways. Get back in the van and stay on him.

    Tip Lean on Franklin's special ability through the tight turns. It keeps the van from clipping something for Not a Scratch, and the seconds add up toward the 7 you need for Advanced Reflexes.

  4. Chase him down on foot

    A bus takes D out mid-chase. Bail out of the van and go after him into the bus depot.

    Note You can't hop on his bike even after he wrecks it. This stretch is on foot the whole way.

  5. Search the rail yard as Chop

    Once you catch up, switch to Chop and let him work the scent through the boxcars.

    Tip Homedog needs 10 seconds in Chop's view, nothing more. It happens on its own, so there's nothing clever to do.

    Note Chop might wander off to bother another dog partway through. Call him back and keep searching. You won't lose any progress.

  6. Open the boxcar

    Chop plants himself barking at one boxcar when he's found the trail. Walk up and open it.

  7. Drop everyone off

    Get D loaded up and drive back. Lamar cuts him loose on the way before you swing by the rec center to wrap things up.

    Note Franklin has Lamar let D go before they get to the house. Keeping him around risked the cops tracing back the ransom call.

Gold medal requirements

  • Not a Scratch

    Get through the mission with minimal damage to Lamar's van.

  • Homedog

    Stay in Chop's perspective for 10 seconds while searching the rail yard.

  • Advanced Reflexes

    Use Franklin's special ability for a total of 7 seconds.

Watch out for

  • The van becomes Franklin's problem the second the chase starts. A couple of hard hits early and Not a Scratch is done before D even crashes his bike.
  • You can't jack D's bike after he wipes out. Don't waste time trying, go straight into the foot chase.
  • Chop wandering off after another dog mid-search is normal, not a bug. Call him back and keep going, nothing's lost.
  • Homedog is passive once you're in Chop's view. Stay there the full 10 seconds and it's done.
